Smithy Icons adds a picker for Breakdance’s own icon library to any post type, so editors and clients can choose an icon without touching code — plus a Dynamic Icon element to display whichever icon was chosen.

What it adds

Icon Picker metabox — appears in the post editor sidebar for any post type you enable in Settings → SF Icons. Search and pick from every icon set Breakdance has registered: its bundled sets, plus anything a developer has added via Breakdance’s own icon management.

Icon Picker Dialogue

Dynamic Icon element — a Breakdance element with full design controls (size, colour, style — none, solid or outline, corners, radius, padding, background, border) that renders whichever icon was picked, either from the metabox via Dynamic Data or from an ACF field. The dynamic icon can be used in templates and in global blocks, picking up icons per post in a loop.

SF Icon field type — registers its own ACF field type, so the picker can live inside ACF field groups and repeaters — e.g. a Features repeater where each row picks its own icon.

Settings

Settings → SF Icons controls which post types show the metabox, plus an optional Global Icon Set Restriction to lock every picker on the site to one set — useful on client sites where you only want your own branded icon set showing, not Breakdance’s whole default library. ACF field types can override this per field.

Requirements

ACF is only needed for the SF Icon field type (field groups and repeaters); the metabox and Dynamic Icon element work without it.

Admin and licensing

Smithy Icons has its own top-level “SF Icons” admin menu, with License as its second screen.
